This guide looks at Turkey’s brand new “Turquoise Visa”. We will be updating it as more information emerges.

Introduction

This new Turquoise Visa (turquoise being the national colour of Turkey) was announced on 14 March 2017.

Who can get a Turquoise Visa?

This visa is for highly skilled people. Highly skilled people means people who are one or more of the following:

  • Highly qualified
  • Have a unique skill set
  • Highly skilled investors
  • Highly skilled scientific people
  • Eminent international cultural or sporting personalities
  • People who will help Turkey or its culture to be better known internationally

They will be entitled to the equivalent of an indefinite work permit.

They can be joined by their husband/wife, children and other dependants.

They are exempt from military service (otherwise compulsory in Turkey) but they can’t work in the Turkish public services.
